Hi, I'm Đan
Thao Dan Nguyen Phan is a Vietnamese visual artist, filmmaker and creative director working across moving image, animation, visual effects and contemporary art.
Her creative journey began in 2012, when her short PSA addressing child labour in Vietnam was broadcast on TV5MONDE, France’s international television network.
She later moved to New York City to pursue a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Computer Art, Computer Animation and Visual Effects at the School of Visual Arts (SVA).
Her short film Pas D'yeux was screened internationally and received multiple festival awards. Following her studies, Dan began her professional career in New York as a 3D visual artist at R/GA, later collaborating with leading animation and visual effects studios including Psyop, Framestore, Hornet and Brand New School.
Moving between art, film and commercial practice, Dan has developed a distinctive visual language that bridges live action, animation and emerging technologies. Her work is rooted in world-building and visual storytelling, often exploring identity, culture, memory and the relationship between the human and digital worlds.
Now based in Vietnam and working internationally (mainly USA and Europe), Dan continues to develop her practice as an artist, filmmaker and creative director across film, animation, cultural projects and immersive experiences.
